Recently our London Contract members entered a team for the ISG Imperial West 5-A-Side football tournament for ‘Men’s Health Week’ and in support of ‘Macmillan Cancer Research’ to show support for the two causes which both raise the awareness of health and wellbeing. The six of them managed to progress as a team to the final having won their group stage matches to get through and winning all their knockout rounds.
The two trusts being supported throughout the tournament, Macmillan Cancer Research and Men’s Health Week both support two different problems and support them in their own individual and helpful ways such as:
Macmillan’s fairly new advertising scheme in which they strongly promote the point of that a Person with cancer is still a person and that they are no different to anyone else, as they are fully supportive of people with cancer or anyone who knows anyone who has cancer and fully supports them throughout it.
Men’s Health Week is a trust that has a week were they strongly promote the health problem in which they choose a theme, this year’s being Belly Fat , Why? Because it’s the type of fat that’s bad for your health and men are more likely to have it, also because this can cause cardiovascular disease, Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes amongst other things and they promote awareness.
Unfortunately Compco lost on Penalties having come back from losing 4-1 in the final 2 minutes but still showed their teamwork and football ability together by getting through to the final. Meanwhile the event was very successful and there was a lot of sunshine and fun to go with it throughout the tournament, whilst raising money for two amazing and helpful trusts.
Overall all of us at Compco would like to thank and congratulate all the partakers in this event as the tournament and the teams involved have supported both the causes massively and at the same time came together as a team whilst having fun.
