After an incredible 30-year journey with Compco Fire Systems, we announce the retirement of our esteemed Commercial Director, Phil Lawley. It’s not every day that we get to honour such a long and impactful career, especially one that has helped shape our Fire Protection Business into what it is today.
Phil joined Compco Fire Systems in 1994, working within the Finance and Quality Department, bringing with him a commitment to excellence that quickly earned the respect of colleagues, clients, and partners alike.
Phil worked through various roles within the Finance team, with his entry onto Companies House as Company Secretary being confirmed in March 2007. His most recent role, spanning well over a decade, has been that of Commercial Director. Phil has been a mentor, collaborator, and trusted leader to our Accounts, QS, HR, and Service & Maintenance Departments over the years.
Phil’s unwavering dedication has been instrumental in building long-term relationships that have stood the test of time, and he has been a driving force behind some of our most significant milestones. “I have got to know so many people during my time here, my work family, more people than I will meet in the rest of my life. I have known some of you for many years, some I have only just gotten to know.” Reflects, Phil.
“So many memories have been made, so many ups and downs over the years. Seeing the company grow from its humble roots at Holmer House in Worcester, to becoming part of a European-Wide Fire Protection Group, and everything in between. From times before mobile phones, when our accounts were recorded in books and designs created on drawing boards, to this modern, exciting, but scary world of AI, I have witnessed so much technological change over the years."

"A heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported and worked with me on this journey. A business is built by people; they are the beating heart, the fabric. Compco Fire Systems employs some wonderful people who have worked very hard to get the company to where it is now, an extremely successful business with an excellent reputation in the Sprinkler and wider Construction Industry.
It has been the utmost privilege and a pleasure to work with you all, present and past staff, including those who are no longer with us, gone but not forgotten. I wish you all the very best for your future career here at Compco Fire Systems. It has served me well, and it will do for you.” Concludes, Phil.
A Message from Our CEO, Matt Baker:
“It’s difficult to put into words the impact Phil Lawley has had on our business over the last 30 years. His professionalism, integrity, loyalty, and commitment have been second to none, and this has played a big part in shaping the company to allow it to sit where it does today, at the top of the Fire Sprinkler Industry.
On behalf of the entire company, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for his outstanding service and dedication, and we wish Phil and Jools every happiness and success in the next chapter. Phil will always be a part of the Compco Fire Systems family.”
We would like you to join us in wishing Phil all the very best as he enters this well-deserved new chapter of life.
Whether it’s time with family, new ventures, or spending time at the Villa or Worcestershire Cricket Ground, we hope retirement brings you a slower pace, joy, and fulfilment that you so richly deserve.
Thank you, Phil, for everything.
